Work from Home and Change Your Life
by Sam Furman | on May 18, 2013
If you want to work from home, I have some great news. You can do it. Sometimes, when you get into a rut with your work, you may feel as though you need a change of scenery, a new wardrobe, or maybe a vacation.
Whatever it is you want, I can assure that being in a rut isn’t about a change of scenery if it’s been a month or more. There is something more you feel but you can’t put your finger on it.
This means it’s time for you to evaluate your work, who you work for, and if it’s getting you closer to achieving your goals in life. If isn’t, then now is the time for you to start putting a strategy together towork from home.
Is it Time to Work from Home?
Working from home is something that may or may not be right for you, but I would ask you to consider a few things before you are quick to respond with a no. For example:
- Do you dread going to work every morning?
- Do you dread taking a shower, knowing that you have to go to work?
- Do you not like the people you work with?
- Do you hate morning traffic?
If you answered yes to any of these, you could easily make the transition to work from home. This isn’t about whether or not you FEEL that you could work at home, but whether or not you are willing to do what it takes to be your own boss.
If you have the desire, and you want it bad enough, you can make it happen. It’s not about how much it takes to start, what it takes to start, or even the time you have to put in. If you want to work for yourself, it’s simply JUST DOING IT. End of story.
Work from Home Requires Good Habits!
Okay, so if you want to work from home, it’s more than a consideration of time, money, and passion. It’s also about habits. If you haven’t read the book The Power of Habit, it’s time. Habit is so important, and as you know the bad ones can break you.
If you let bad habits rule your life, you’ll never be able to move forward, it’s that simple. There has never been a time when bad habits support good results, so forming those now is critical for your future.
To be your own boss, you need to:
- Get up early and go to bed early
- Follow a schedule or office hours
- Slowly take steps to separate home life and work life
- Attend company events without fail
Whatever it takes to form new and better habits, you have to, there is no MAYBE. How important is it to you that you have more FREEDOM? How important is it that you are able to create the work environment you DESIRE?
If this matters to you just like anything else, you will find a way. If you are ready to learn morer about how I started on my journey to “work from home”, and how I made the decision to surround myself with likeminded people, then go HERE now to learn more.
